where BCM Bar and Balcony, Level 1, 427 Docklands Drive Docklands

about In the current property market, there are significant risks and, accordingly, opportunities.
How would the ‘players’ in the industry invest a clear $50 million? What are the current ‘best bets’? Invest in large scale developments? Government infrastructure? Residential, industrial, office, retail? Or just put it all on black? Come and listen to how three prominent leaders from different parts of the property industry would direct their resources if given a free hand…
‘Dealer’ Tony De Domenico, Executive Director UDIA (Vic) will determine whether the following ‘players’ have a strong ‘hand’ when they reveal the actions they are going to take and the investment strategies they are going to use with $50 million.
In order as pictured:
1. Bill Bowness - Managing Director, Wilbow Group
2. Chris Bailey - Director, m3capital
3. Anthony Lennon - Executive Director, Peet Limited
In addition, and in keeping with the theme for the evening, UDIA Outlook will run a Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament hosted by Poker Times for those who would prefer to take risks using play money rather than their hard-earned cash. Come and show your colleagues, clients and competitors that you know how to take calculated risks.
Give everyone you know the ‘heads up’ about this event and make the most of this rare opportunity to hear first hand from ‘three of a kind’ and to take home the first place trophy—there is nothing better than having the bragging rights in your office!
It will be a ‘full house’, so bring your best ‘poker face’ for a great night of learning and laughs.

Thursday 18th
what UDIA Outlook March Event
where Studio 3, Level 3, Crown Entertainment Complex, 8 Whiteman Street Southbank
when 6:00pm - 9:00pm
about The year 2009 will go down in history as the year of the "GFC", which resulted in a
short-lived dip for urban development in Australia. Melbourne's property sector has surged in
the latter months of this year, seeing an increase in median house prices despite recent
interest rate hikes introduced by, and independent of, the Reserve Bank. With our financial
markets well and truly on the up and up what will 2010 bring for Victoria's property market?
Analysts predict that Melbourne's current property boom will continue into 2010, increasing
the median house prices in most Melbourne suburbs and fostering the ever-growing need
for affordable housing. With Australia's current population of 22 million expected to reach 35
million by 2049, how will our Government and the industry work together to begin to tackle
the housing shortage next year? What effects will the increased interest rates and the probable
end to government grants for first home buyers have on our State's property market?
We invite you to join our four leading experts in the Economics, Marketing, Developing and
Finance sectors, as they explore the outlook of 2010 in an informative and interactive panel
session. What happened in 2009, where are we today and what lies ahead for Melbourne
2010 and beyond?

Thursday 15th
what UDIA Outlook; The Future of Fibre Connected Communities
where Arthurs Bar Lounge, 95 Flinders Lane Melbourne (enter via Rosati Restaurant)
when 6:00pm - 9.00pm
about The Government and Telstra reached an agreement on 20 June regarding the roll-out of the NBN network announcing that NBN Co would be required to be the wholesale supplier of last resort for fibre connections in greenfield developments from 1 January 2011.
In summary this means that developers will only be required to fund the cost of pit and pipes for fibre connections and NBN Co will be responsible for all other costs for fibre deployment including backhaul. There is still some
uncertainty around whether this means anything for the continued deployment of copper by Telstra up until 1 January 2011.
This UDIA Outlook event will dispel some of the myths surrounding the new National Broadband Network and provide information to developers about their rights, discuss who will be affected under the new legislation and provide a forum for all to openly ask questions of industry representatives.
Joined by Angus Ramsay, Project and Development Manager, RCL Group, our panel of experts are:
- Phillip Mason, Assistant Secretary Network Policy & Regulation Division, Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy
- Phil Smith, General Manager, Carrier Relations & Regulatory, Opticomm Co Pty Ltd
- Brad Wynter, Manager Organisation Improvement, City of Whittlesea
