The UDIA (Victoria) will again recognise excellence in the field of urban development. As in previous years, entrants will be able to compete for state and national awards. Full details of the categories in which UDIA (Victoria) may give awards, plus information about eligibility, the nature of submissions and judging criteria are contained in the brochure. Entries are now open and will be received up to 4.00 pm, Friday 17th September 2010.
Judging will begin in October 2010 and the awards will be presented at a special UDIA luncheon event to be held at the Crown Entertainment Complex on Friday 3rd December 2010.
Entering the state awards is an essential precursor to entering the UDIA National Awards. The winners of the UDIA National Awards will be announced at the National Congress in March 2011 in Adelaide.

Plenty Valley Town Centre repesents a significant element in the realisation of a master planned town centre. Sienna a great central focus and native landscaping are strong features of this cleverly designed project. A disused quarry, which was a local 'eye-sore', has been trasnformed into a visually pleasing residential development, doubles as a stormwater reservoir offsetting potential flooding risks.

Rosso Apartments delivered a high-quality, excetionally attractive high-density development which exceeded the criteria for its category. From a derelict commercial site, the architects have created a boutique four storey development. The facades were revitalised through the use of bright, block colours and wooden horizontal slates; with new entries open to Drummond Street enhancing pedestrian engagement with the street.

Barmaque deceptively large, and with good street frontages, Baymarque town homes integrate seamlessly into their Brighton environment of typically large family residents. Yet, their compact size and efficient use of materials makes them well-priced for the local market.

Richfield Retirement Village with an ambience that echoles a luxury resort, Richfield provides a high quality retirement lifestyle. Combining detached units and apartmetns, this village provides a variety of accommodation sizes and types. The centrally-located community services building includes a range of meeting and activity spaces including library, craft room, gym, aerobics, pool and extensive lounge and dining facilities.

Metro 3175 cleverly addresses and supports the objectives of Melbourne 2030 and the local council in delivering affordable housing within Dandenong's activite centre redevelopment. Innovative combining single level ground and first floor units with two storey development manage to provide a sense of space both inside and outside each home.

7 and 9 Yarra representing a bold undertaking tha tled new development throught the precinct adjacent to South Yarra station, 7 and 9 Yarra delivers a mix of residential, commercial, retail and hotel accommodation. The two buildings were conceived together but are strikingly different to meet their respective roles. Set on a largely forgotten series of mixed-use properties, the buildings are separated by Yarra Lane, an integral linkdesigned for use by residents, office workers, and visitors to the area.

Shearwater on the Island this project has provided significant improvements for the water quality draining from a larger5 community before entering Westernport Bay. Shearwater on the Island is at the downstream end of a 210 hectare drainage sub-catchment which inlcudes the majority of the Cowes Township.

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre an environmental and architectural design award of the highest order is appropriate for this state-of-the-art public building. The flagshp project is the world's first convention centre to be awarded a 6 star Green Star environmental rating, making it one of the most efficient large structures in the world, leading the way in best practice, innovation and sustainability.
