The Women in Development group was started as a sub-committee of UDIA's Victorian division with the aim of encouraging women to become more interested and involved in what's happening in the urban development industry. Since 2000 the Women in Development group has provided networking and learning opportunities for many members within the urban development industry.

In late 2004 Women In Development changed to Women In Property. This was the result of increased involvement by members in not just urban development industry but property as a whole.
